What the note asked for

Who authorized changing the terms on blocks that petitioned into the parking permit program under earlier rules, what notice went to the households already holding permits, and whether anyone considered letting them keep the deal they signed up for, from a note by a neighbor.

What we did

Went and stood there, then filed it with Denver 311 by location and asked for a written answer. The answer is on this page.

What the city said

Three questions went out and three answers came back in 3 days. The one that matters is the third: the city says letting those households keep their original terms was discussed and rejected, and that no formal record documents that decision. Then on September 15 the permit office said it changed software in November 2022, no longer has the old system or its history, and cannot substantiate a 2018 permit denial the neighbor is holding on city letterhead. The program's own memory stops in 2022. We are still asking where those records went, which is why this clock is still running.
